The Automotive Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on vehicles. This includes engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical systems, and other automotive components. The mechanic will work closely with other team members to ensure vehicles are safe and in good working condition.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnostics:
Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify issues in vehicle systems.
Conduct thorough inspections to determine the root cause of problems.
Repairs:
Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and suspension systems.
Replace worn or damaged parts such as brake pads, wheel bearings, and sensors.
Repair or replace electrical components such as batteries, alternators, and starters.
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
Inspect and maintain vehicle components to ensure they are in good working condition.
Customer Service:
Communicate with customers to explain vehicle issues and the necessary repairs.
Provide estimates for repair costs and timelines.
Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through effective communication and quality service.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Ensure all repairs and maintenance are performed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
Stay updated on the latest automotive technology, tools, and repair techniques.

Qualifications:

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Vocational or technical training in automotive repair is preferred.
Experience:
Proven experience as an auto mechanic or similar role.
Familiarity with a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
Skills:
Strong mechanical and technical skills.
Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment.
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Certifications:
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification is highly desirable.
Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Ability to work in a variety of conditions, including in repair shops and outdoor environments.

Work Environment:

The mechanic will work in a repair shop, dealership, or service center.
The role may require working evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Hourly wage, commensurate with experience and certifications.
